Meet Iviwe Nkopo, better known as ‘Ivee Soul,’ a multifaceted artist whose talents shine brightly in guitar playing, songwriting, and vocals. Hailing from Tembisa and now calling Strand home, Ivee Soul’s musical odyssey began at the tender age of 8 when she graced the stage of her school choir as a soloist.
Today, we invite you to delve into Ivee Soul’s captivating journey, from auditions to the prestigious Beyond Busking Programme, a transformative experience encompassing songwriting, vocal refinement, musical arrangement, and production. Her crowning moment came as she graced the main stage of the esteemed Cape Town Arts Festival in 2023, captivating audiences with her soulful melodies.
Reflecting on her time in the Beyond Busking Programme, Ivee Soul graciously shared her insights. Alongside her, esteemed mentors such as guitar virtuoso and producer Jonny Blundell, vocal maestro Abigail Petersen, acclaimed songwriter Clive Ridgway, and the visionary Creative Director of Beyond Busking and Ariva Arts Foundation, Lynne Holmes, lauded her exceptional musical prowess.
On March 29th, 2024, Ivee Soul unveiled her latest masterpiece, “Amandla,” a soul-stirring composition now available on all major digital streaming platforms. Produced by Jonny Blundell at Rootspring Studios, “Amandla” showcases Ivee Soul’s mesmerizing vocals and composition, accompanied by a stellar ensemble including Tommy Guitarlah on acoustic guitar, Ronan Skillen on percussion, Shaun Johannes on fretless bass, Jonny Blundell on Kora Harp, and Lynne Holmes on keyboard, with mastering by Vicente Espi.
