Announcing the Beyond Busking Project 2024: Open Call for Auditions!

The Cape Town Arts Festival (CTAF), in partnership with Ariva Arts Foundation, is excited to announce the third edition of the Beyond Busking Project (BBP). We invite all musicians to audition on 5th November 2024 at the Castle of Good Hope, Secunda Hall, from 9 AM to 3 PM. This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a prestigious upskilling program designed to elevate your musical journey.

What is the Beyond Busking Project?

The Beyond Busking Project is a unique initiative that offers both emerging and established musicians comprehensive musical training, personal development, and unprecedented career opportunities. Over the past two years, this program has transformed the careers of its graduates, with past participants securing overseas performance contracts, producing original songs, and even recording at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London. The BBP has become a beacon of success stories in the South African music scene.

A Word from Our Leadership

Yusuf Ganief, CEO of the Cape Town Arts Festival, shares, “We owe this success to our remarkable partnership with Ariva Arts Foundation and the industry icons who mentor our artists. Each year, the program grows stronger, offering Beyond Buskers complimentary services like radio airplay, media coverage, and essential international connections in music production and performance. These resources are invaluable and often out of reach for many South African creatives.”

One of the program’s key facilitators, Clive Ridgway—an accomplished songwriter and author of Crack the SONGWRITING Code—brings a wealth of experience to the table. Having crafted hits for renowned artists such as Jonathan Butler and Judith Sephuma, Clive emphasizes the rewarding nature of the project: “The Beyond Busking Project is one of the most fulfilling experiences I have had as a songwriting teacher. The artists we work with are talented and eager to learn, making this holistic approach to music education an ideal fit.”
