CAPE TOWN COMMUNITY ARTS FESTIVAL
The focus of this 2-day event is Community Arts for Community Wellbeing and to highlight community artists by staging them in the main festival at the Castle of Good Hope on 25 November 2023.
The festival will be done in Partnership with Ariva Arts Foundation and the Castle of Good Hope and diverse communities, artists, traders, and audiences will come together to promote cultural exchange and social cohesion, togetherness, and common humanity.
Venue spaces will include the main courtyard (main stage, music, dancers, and food vendors). The second courtyard will host a craft market and wellness stalls as well as sculptor, buskers, juggling, and magicians.
The Secunda House and Secunda Hall venues will host an interactive contemporary art exhibition, film festival, and poetry workshops. The Gallery will feature AWEH discussions around reimagining CT Arts and Festival Improvement as well as AMP (artist mentorship programs) workshops in digital marketing, digital arts, basic photography, and more. The Rooftop will be used for wellness practices such as Tai Chi, Zumba Dance, Fencing, Yoga, and more. The festival will include youth, women, and disabled persons for the morning session. Youth activities will be hosted in the Alleman’s Venue and include face painting, magic shows, African storytelling on Ubuntu, and other edutainment activities. Disabled persons’ ballroom dancing will be showcased in the morning in the same venue.
