Cape Town Arts Festival facilitates an events planning and management workshop with Langa creatives in the Creative Community Connectors project, a PESP (Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme) run by the Craft and Design Institute (CDI) in collaboration with Cape Town Arts Festival. The project provides social employment for creative practitioners based in communities in Cape Town and allows them to be productive while playing a role in community building.
The Cape Town Arts Festival has developed EMPLOI (Education Mentorship Programmes for Leadership Ownership and Innovation) to empower community artists with extra skills to increase job creation and income opportunities. The first job creation and training programme was developed for the Langa Community where unemployed artists are receiving training in events and festival management, marketing, social media, fundraising, budgeting and logistics. The programme duration is 3 months (Mar-May 2023) and includes 8 modules covering the A-Z of events, marketing and fundraising management.
Cape Town Arts Festival has partnered with Langa Creatives for a Creative Showcase called Langa Community Arts Festival which will be happening on the 10th of June 2023 at Langa Community Hall and Guga S’Thebe from 9 AM – 6 PM. The morning session will be from 9 AM – 12:00 PM with creative workshops for the youth such as sewing, craft design, poetry, dancing, etc., and the afternoon session will start from 1 PM – 6 PM with performances from Langa creatives, keynote speakers, and headline artists.
