Dizu Plaatjies Workshops Recap | AIR Entrepreneur Project 2025
The AIR Entrepreneur Project launched with an inspiring series of immersive workshops led by Professor Dizu Plaatjies, a celebrated master of African Indigenous music. These workshops provided participants with a rare opportunity to explore the art of traditional music-making, from crafting and playing bows and flutes to understanding the deep cultural significance of these instruments.
A Journey into Indigenous Music & Culture
Prof. Plaatjies highlighted how a genuine love for an instrument fosters unity among musicians, strengthening the power of shared learning. This message came to life in a powerful moment when participants uplifted and supported one another, reflecting the project’s spirit of collaboration and growth.
Empowering Creatives Through Education & Heritage
AIR CEO Yusuf Ganief encouraged participants to embrace this opportunity, emphasizing the project’s mission: to empower creatives through education, cultural heritage, and economic development.
The workshops also welcomed Bitou Municipality Mayor Jessica Kamkam, who reflected on the program’s impact, sharing how it brought her a profound sense of peace and transformation, highlighting its cultural and personal significance.
A Platform for Sustainable Growth
With the support of Ariva Arts Foundation, the Griqua National Conference, and Bitou Municipality, the AIR Entrepreneur Project is building a sustainable platform that promotes learning, artistic expression, and cultural preservation.
