The Cape Town Arts Festival initiated the Beyond Busking project to empower buskers through comprehensive training and mentorship, encompassing vocal training, stage presence master classes, songwriting, musical arrangement, and in-studio production. The project aims to elevate local buskers and enhance the perception of busking in South Africa to meet international standards, thereby opening doors to international opportunities for local talents. The Beyond Busking Auditions occurred on September 19th, 2023, at the Castle of Good Hope.
This project was in collaboration with the Ariva Arts Foundation & V&A Waterfront, funded by the Presidential Employment Stimulus 4 and managed by Business and Arts South Africa and the Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture.
